Communities in Other Countries...
This slide is to remind me we're going to actually get to talk a little bit about what I do which is more fun than showing bullet slides. What I'd like to do is go around the world, among other things. We talked a little bit about some of the work that we're doing in the San Francisco Bay area. The mat work has been done partially in Baja, and I've pointed out the stromatolites on the coast. We are also doing a lot of work right now in Yellowstone National Park which is there in the middle of the country. We've also done some work in New Zealand. I'm going to show one data slide of some work I did in New Zealand. What's really interesting is in New Zealand there's some thermal areas in the North Island where you have very acidic water, high temperatures and so on, and it's the same pH and same temperature. You have exactly the same communities as you have in Yellowstone at the same pH and the same temperature. Of course, you're in a different season and so on and you can get different UV fluxes so it's been kind of nice to at least do one trip to New Zealand. I very much hope that I can do some more.
