American Red Cross Month On February 20, the American Red Cross launched a nationwide
campaign to help Americans prepare for emerging threats and
disasters before they happen. The Together
We Prepare campaign encourages individuals and families
to take five proactive steps toward safety. Every year families
of military members send emergency messages to their enlisted
loved ones, millions of Americans are trained in lifesaving
first aid and CPR courses, many of patients receive blood, and
the victims of more than 67,000 disasters are given financial
assistance . These are just a few of the humanitarian accomplishments
celebrated during March, the official American Red Cross month.
Brain Awareness Week,
March 15-21, is an international effort organized by the Dana
Alliance for Brain Initiatives to advance public awareness
about the progress, promise, and benefits of brain research. The
Dana Alliance is joined in the campaign by partners in the United
States and around the world, including medical and research organizations;
patient advocacy groups; the National Institutes of Health, and
other government agencies; service groups; hospitals and universities;
K-12 schools; and professional organizations.
