The onset of hearing loss and deafness may be gradual or sudden. It
may occur before birth or at any time during one's life. Helpful materials,
including free publications, information for teachers and students,
and classroom activities, are available from the National Institute
on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD)
The International Hearing Society has declared the week of September 28 - October 4 Hearing Aid Awareness week to increase the awareness of how hearing aids can help improve the quality of life for those with hearing loss.
