EXPECTATIONS OF THE MEMO ASSIGNMENT

The memo you will write will follow standard memo form which Director Thompson [the English teacher] will review in class. The purpose of the memo is to summarize the evidence and to communicate your conclusions regarding the communication system of your Other as it relates to the following Agency expectations:

  1. How it relates to human language—the similarities and differences.
  2. The history of the research regarding this form of communication.
  3. The effects of this communication from of the systems that use it.
  4. The mathematical patterns of this communication form.
  5. The scientific explanation of how this communication system works (explain the biological or physical structures involved).
  6. The math proofs or statistical evidence to support your conclusions.
  7. Speculate possible variant forms of this communication system.
  8. Hypothesize successful strategies for communicating with this Other (pp. 101-102).
