Meet the Seminar Facilitator:
Doug Lundberg
"I've been teaching for a short 25 years. I still can look down the high school halls and remember myself and my feelings when I was a teenager. Since that time though I taught school in Battle Creek Michigan at Northwestern Junior High, from there I took a big jump and moved to Australia. I found a job at Upwey High School, located NW of Melbourne, in the mountains. It was a beautiful place that I still miss. My daughter, Claire was born in Fern Tree Gully, Victoria.
My first wife was killed in an automobile accident in 1988. Since then I have re-married a fantastic woman, Christa (who is a middle school teacher). I collect coke memorabilia, comic art (in particular comic cels), and antique science equipment.
I love science! It seems as though everything I do rotates around science and the teaching of science. I attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where I received my undergraduate degree in biological sciences. My masters came from Adams State College in Colorado. The last few years have been kind to me. This year I was awarded the Milken Family Foundation Award. In 1995 I received the National Molecular Biology Teacher's Award from the National Biology Teachers Assn., I also received the Tandy Award in 1995. That year I was also selected by the Senior class as the Outstanding Teacher at my high school and was 'given' the fun task of presenting a speech at the Senior breakfast. In 1993, I received the OBTA award from the Colorado Biology Teacher's Association.
Currently, I am a science teacher at the Air Academy High School located on the grounds of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado. I teach AP Biology, regular Biology and Genetic Engineering. In addition, I am very involved in teaching biotechnology to 28 other schools in the state of Colorado via in-service and the Internet. This is currently in its 3rd year and is funding for a 4th year!"
