The archer fish (Toxotes jaculator) has the unique ability to shoot insects off overhanging leaves with a squirt of water from its mouth.
The two butterfly fish (Pantodon buchholzi) are named because their pectoral fins look like the wings of a butterfly. Butterlyfly fish occupy the top stratum of the water column in their native habitat which includes slow moving water with dense vegetation. These fish catch insects, their food source, just below the water surface. They are originally from West and Central Africa.
Both fish can live in soft to hard water at 81-86 degrees F at pH 6-7.5.
