Amazon swordplants (Echinodorus sp.) grow well in a rich gravel substrate with some clay. Optimal temperature range is 68-81 degrees F. Lighting, pH and water hardness are not critical. This species is a very dependable plant. In their natural habitats they are widely distributed in South America.
