Computer Interfacing
Experiments
Several experiments that make use of computer assisted data collection
are described below. Although these are copyrighted
materials, feel free to copy, modify, and use them in your classroom
with your students.
Experiment 1
- Catalase Enzyme Activity:
This experiment measures the rate of enzyme activity in organisms
containing either catalase or peroxidase. The
pressure sensor is used to monitor oxygen production as hydrogen
peroxide is destroyed. This experiment fits well with studies
of enzymes and cellular metabolism.
- Teacher's Information for Catalase Enzyme Activity:
Find tips, directions for making solutions, sample answers to
questions, sample data and plots here.
Experiment 2
Experiment 3
- Transpiration: This experiment
determines the stress various environmental variables have on
the transpiration of water through the leaves of plants..
- Teacher's Information for Transpiration:
Find tips, directions for making solutions, sample answers to
questions, sample data and plots here.
