SUBJECT MATTER RUBRICS: U. S. History, English, and Mathematics

American History: 1890-1920, The Progressive Era.
Level 2 Identify the social, economic and political conditions of the 1890s which needed to be changed. What changes (reforms) were put into place?
Level 3:
Complete Level 2 +
Evaluate how well each of the reforms worked.
Level 4:
Complete Level 3 +
Compare and contrast immigration into the United States in the Progressive Era with the current immigration pattern. Relate immigration patterns then and now to the status of tuberculosis in the United States then and now.


English: Read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair
Level 2 Maintain a reading log of reader responses showing that you have read The Jungle.
Level 3:
Complete Level 2 +
Connect specific events and scenes in The Jungle with specific actions or reforms taken during the Progressive Era.
Level 4:
Complete Level 3 +
Write a fully supported argument paper. Argue for or against a specific reform. Use fully explained and supported evidence in your paper


Mathematics: Statistics
Mastery will be demonstrated by passing a written test, demonstrating ability to solve the problem to a teacher, or applying the mathematics in your final exhibition in such a way that it is clear to all that you understand the math and can apply it to a real situation.
Level 2 Apply mean, median, mode, standard deviation and variance to data and interpret the results
Level 3:
Complete Level 2 +
3.1 Use compound interest to forecast a trend.
3.2 Determine strength of relationship through correlation coefficient.
3.3 Using linear regression, based on the correlation coefficient, determine the curve of best fit and prepare a forecast using that data.
Level 4:
Complete Level 3 +
Show understanding of hypothesis testing and the normal curve. Using a T-test, test a hypothesis and a null hypothesis and interpret the results.
