So I have to pay tribute to a high school teacher where I grew up, his name was Pat Bucci, who was a devoted teacher -- he was the coach --he was tough as hell. I was on a rather perilous course of delinquency with only a strong interest in girls and sports. I suspect that since I had a great deal of respect, or possibly fear of Pat Bucci, that I paid attention to what he said in class and I achieved grades of A in every one of his classes which included biology, chemistry, physics, algebra, and several geometry courses.
With the confidence instilled in me by this wonderful man I did fairly well in high school and decided to go on with my education, and attended a small liberal arts college run by the Benedictines near my home town to which I commuted daily by bus or by hitch hiking.
