Gerald R. Fink, Ph.D.
Gerald R. Fink is a founding member and director of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research and is the American Cancer Society Professor of Genetics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Fink received his BA in biology from Amherst College and both his M.S. and Ph.D. in genetics from Yale University. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He also is a past president of the Genetics Society of America.
Fink's honors and awards include the National Academy of Sciences/United States Steel Foundation Award in Molecular Biology, the Medal of the Genetics Society of America and the Emil Christian Hansen Foundation Award for Microbiological Research. His avocations include mountain climbing and fishing, dribbling and dunking.
