Small molecules join together to form macromolecules which can assemble into large macromolecular complexes. Subunits, proteins and a ribosome are drawn to scale. Ribosomes are part of the machinery the cell uses to make proteins. Each ribosome is composed of about 90 macromolecules (proteins and RNA molecules), and is large enough to see in the electron microscope. Fair
